My immediate family in a nutshell and what I went through behind closed doors for many years and only realised what was happening in 2024 at 31/2 years of age🫠
In toxic and dysfunctional families, you're not allowed to discuss your feelings, talk about issues or concerns, or hold anyone accountable. Don't get this wrong. The TOXIC members can say what they want, tell you what they think and feel, speak their mind, take their anger out on you, and try to hold you accountable for everything, including things that aren't even your fault, but there are double standards for you. You will be given orders to STFU or else, dismissed, ignored, invalidated, minimized, and be told to move on, quit bringing it up, or to let it go, even when there's been no closure, no apologies, no accountability, and no change in their behavior. This is manipulation at its finest, and yes, it's emotional abuse.

Proud of myself for speaking up to management this afternoon & they said they will sort it.

Thankfully my line manager didn’t agree w it either & it was different when they last saw/agreed it, weirdly was changed whilst they were on leave!

How to Stop Taking Things Personally 1. Realise that other people's rudeness is not about you. When someone is rude it's likely to be a reflection of their own issues. 2. Ask yourself what else the comment or behaviour might mean. For example, if someone doesn't smile or say hello, they might be shy. 3. Take comments or criticism in a constructive way. Ask yourself if there's any truth to it, and what you can learn. 4. Take a different perspective. Ask yourself how an unbiased outsider would see the situation. 5. Realise that you can't please everyone. 6. Know that you're not defined by your mistakes or criticism. 7. Realise that your self-worth depends on you. It does not depend on what others say about you.
