Yesterday PM on a John Ball Zoo Turtle Road Crossing survey, IN BETWEEN assigned locations was able to help a Blanding's Turtle (Emydoidea blandingii) cross the road! Listed as Special Concern in MI.

Massasauga examples. They prefer sheltered, dense wetlands, while water snakes can be found around nearly any body of water and in human-disturbed areas, particularly boat docks.

Northern water snake (Nerodia stipedon) found roadside today while doing a Turtle crossing survey. Often mistaken for Eastern Massasauga rattlesnake here in MI but key differences: head shape, coloration, no rattle, and behavior.
