I read a book from a different series of his (the one with Leslie Manville on PBS) and there was a lot less of that kind of thing in it, but there was a gay character and he was written like “Tom walked into the room, still gay, and lisped something homosexual about the weather”

He has a series where he as author insert *is* the narrator, solving crime with a grizzled old detective who is kind of a bigot, and that’s sort of the whole thing? The detective will say something homophobic, the author-narrator will be like “can he say that??” and it seems like he can

It’s interesting because I would put this movie very low on the scary scale, but high on the gore scale, which i don’t seem to class as “body horror” for some reason? I even said “man that’s a lot of gore” but that aspect was not pitched as terror, to me
