Credited on early pressings as 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀' 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 and credited to Miles, the piece is a rhythm changes tune with a melodic motif that may have originated at jam sessions in the early 1940s- Thelonious Monk has been cited as one possible source.
