He made it seem cool to be passionate about art and music, to want to think about it deeply and critically. In the age of 60 second explainer videos, chatgpt reading summaries, etc, I just desperately want my students to leave my classes with the idea it might be cool to think deeply, on one's own.

I don't really think many of my students will remember much about philosophy 10 years after they take my classes. But if they take away anything I just really hope it is something similar. Like, just think about stuff. Care about problems. Be curious. Pay attention.
