Remember Home Depot (and probably other places) takes pics of everyone who goes into their parking lots or stores, they keep biometric data, along with all other data, forever and their policy is to share it with any and all law enforcement or "consultants"

photocopy of a retraction: false obituary In our April 1982 issue off our backs printed an obituary that we found out was false about two weeks after publication. The obituary was written by Jesse Hawk, who also goes by the name Penny Brackenbury, and claimed that on Feb 11, she had died after a car hit her whlle sne was trying to help three other women nurt in a car accident. No accident ever occurred. The obituary published was ostensibly signed by Lynn Ucci for the Pitts- burgh women's communitv. . Off our backs has confirmed that Lynn Ucc1 did not send the obituary We also confirmed that Saran Hoagland was not named Jesse literarv "heir," and no correspondence should de sent to Sarah. We want to deeply apologize to hoth these women and our readers tor any hardship our printing this false information has brought them. How did a false obituary get printed off our backs? We didn't independently verify the obituarv because 1t never occurred to us that it could possibly be false. We will be verifying all obituaries in the future. The credibility of a newspaper lies in its presenting facts that are checked out. We generally learn the hard way, and this experience will push us even harder to make that extra effort. The question also arises of who dld send the ob1tuary? Using a pro- fess1onal handwriting expert who frequently testifies in court, we were able to determine that Jesse Hawk sent the obituary herself. We also made manv phone calls to find out much as possible about the situation. We do not believe this was a malicious act, and members of the Pittsburgh women's community are trying to help Jesse del with this and other oroblems at the moment.

It's been 16 hours since Los Angeles County declared a state of emergency over ICE Raids and the @latimes.com has yet to publish a story about it.
Screen shot of the LA Times search results page. A search for "state of emergency" reveals the two most recent stories containing the phrase were a story about a typhoon in Alaska and a story about property damage from the January wildfires. Both stories were published on 10/13/25
