apparently our Victorian state govt is too stupid to google for other jurisdictions doing digital driver's licences, like umm... the whole of North America's DMV's peak body (American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators - AAMVA), on whether to put fake holograms on phone-based ID cards.

it's because tech-stupid Dept of Govt Services and MPs like Danny Pearson, Melissa Horne and Gab Williams have all been saying (for 2 years now) that you can trust a digital licence by rocking the phone around to "see the hologram"... and now that people realise that's total b.s., all bets are off.

partly... but the "no, you can't just do a visual check, and why would you, when you can use the QR code?" bit hasn't been rammed home enough for both Vic and NSW to ditch this fake hologram fetish.
