They're really meant for recording right onto a computer. They have fewer features (like anti-skate and fine-tuning the speed, and worst of all, they seem to all have a lot of plastic to them instead of good materials.

For turnatbles you might see Pioneer, Technics. Receivers maybe Panasonic, Marantz, Sony's probably good. Hitachi maybe. I see a lot of Soundesign, but I think they might not be made very well. Oh, and I'd stay away from USB turntables.
