I've been writing an NES emulator, and I've gotten to the point where to increase its fidelity I need to get the video output pipeline to be cycle accurate. Spending this morning trying to grok this diagram. What's befuddling me is how the fine x affects things.

So it is a bug, but it might be front-end only: it definitely quotes distances in your preferred units.
