I don't think it should be ignored, but for a 60+ year old movie franchise where the lead periodically changes appearances and doesn't get 60 years old, I think a simple acknowledgement without explanation should suffice.

Honestly I have all sorts of time for bond, I even liked view to a kill alright, and that was Roger Moore being a hilariously old, fat bond 😄

Another thing I think of is how many people I know who’ve only seen random installments of mission impossible, Star Wars, and fast and furious movies, but still easily inferred story and character beats and had a good time. I just don’t think it matters
