We had a week or so of cooler, weather, higher humidity, and some rain showers. The fires calmed down and the smoke has been gone for about a week. The 80° dry weather is back and the smoke is rolling back into North Pole today. Upper 80s the next few days, then 60s followed by four days of rain.

Phone is blowing up with alerts today. We have wildfires surrounding us in every direction. Just a little smoke here in our neighborhood, but dozens of evacuation orders in the borough. We need rain and cooler temps. 87 again today. Ugh!!

Nice little thunderstorm. Tiny hail smaller than a BB, lots of thunder but no visible lightening yet. Very pleasant.

Learned today that Alaska Airlines Club 49 members flying 1st class get free access to the airport lounge. 6 hour layover in Seattle. Decided to pay the $65 each for a day pass. Got to the counter and got in free.

We have a river view room at the Ameristar Casino in Council Bluffs. We only lost our limit in the casino.

Last night in Iowa. Saw the deer again this evening. Heading to Omaha tomorrow. This visit was too short. My time with Tim is always too short. Enjoying our last bourbon together until next time.

Godfathers Pizza yesterday. It may be even better than I remember. The one in Hastings closed years ago, but we were in Grand Island yesterday and drove past one. Had to stop.

Snow, wind, 4° below zero. 30 below forecast for tomorrow night. A far cry from the 40° that we had for the last half of last week. That kind of spoiled us for January. Now I’m grumpy because I got a taste of Spring and then they took it away.

I enjoyed the four days of 40° weather while it lasted. A lot of snow melted away. Today it dropped down to zero and we are looking at 40 below temperatures later in the week. Alaska winters are getting more and more unpredictable and crazy.
