I don't think it is pointless. Arguing with bad faith replies is pointless. But informative posts are not pointless, and further informative posts to select replies are not pointless.

I think it says something that the Republicans in the House and Senate that were seemingly so powerless to curtail Trump's lawless actions, stopped Trump in his tracks on the idea of funding the extended subsidies. Maybe Americans are being played by the "powerless" Congressional Republicans?

Sometimes it is Trump preventing Republicans in Congress from acting, sometimes it is Republicans in Congress preventing Trump from acting. Usually, this means a lurch to the right. The proposal will get much worse.

Trump somehow managed to find a VP worse than him on Ukraine and NATO. Makes Rubio resigning after the midterms to run for President (my working assumption) very problematic.

I guess Thiessen took a break from pretending that Trump is really actually tough on Putin but we just can't see it (Maybe there are limits to what even Thiessen is willing to write?), to claim the Trump movement is the victim of all these bigots. (I guess not)

But I think this explains why his numbers on the economy are cratering. It is one thing to think the economy is not good, it is another to think the President is making it worse.

It is not really a ban on gas cars. After 2035, you will still be able to buy new plug in hybrids in California, which can run on gas and never be plugged in. What California should eliminate is the cap on plug in hybrid sales.

On this very, very narrow issue, I am glad Democrats do not control the House and Senate, because they would be much more likely to go along with the stimulus checks idea. Biden's excessive stimulus checks in 2021 were really a product of Trump's doing.

There is only so much room for large single family homes. That can't be fixed by any policy (except maybe by aggressively pushing "work from home" policies, which urbanites hate because it ruins the character of their (no longer) bustling neighborhoods).

I doubt people would have been happy with Reagan if the recovery included 8-10% inflation. Conversely, had we had no recession-recovery cycle, but inflation had come down to 2%, I think Reagan gets credit. It was the decade of inflation that changed expectations about returning to 25¢ gas IMO.

It is worse than that. He isn't even delivering a flatline on prices. Overall inflation is at 3%. Not terrible by historic standards, but elevated by recent standards (pandemic era Fed excluded).

A road alternative would be to extend the HOT lanes into Maryland. (A reminder that the HO in HOT stands for HOV.) Sadly, the only way to get a meaningful road built in Maryland may be to elect a Republican Governor. Talk to your guy Wes about that. Oh, and White's Ferry is still closed. No bridge.
