Walking, cycling, live music, markets, drawing. Making sense of political & worldly events.
Dice seem to have the least add on charges to tickets if you don't mind adding another app but this alert makes it sound like I'm about to be hit with some home truths.

Today's CaleGreen Park summer Fair (juxtaposed with pic of same area from 2019 with our lad in Nick Drake 'watching the world go by' mode).

The Liverpool supporting half of the family went to the Premiership celebrations today. Nice of the first team squad to allow K-2SO from Star Wars Rogue One to join them on the open top bus.

The nearest barber to Stockport County's ground; a blue hair dye manufacturer will have done well out of the team's Division One play off challenge.

I do like those gestures you see when musicians have pulled off a tricky bit of music like James Yorkston doing a low key fist pump or Hugh Cornwell shaking his drummer's hand after a song. One such moment during this when the vocalist high fived✋ our lad for his 🎹 play after a cover of StarMan.

Cherry tree blossoms are yet to spawn but here's the Cale Green Park calender picture for April 2012

Often struck at the anguished reactions to driving bans in court and how the defence will plead against one. No-one ever says "Well I suppose it'll be the bus for me for the time being"

Reading The North by Paul Morley. There's several references to the River Mersey in Stockport centre being removed from sight 'as if it was ugly & poisonous, a squealing new born mutt'. Maybe someone from the council read it as they've since created an overview.

The temperature has ticked up to 15°c for the first time this year which is the level of outdoors our guinea pig can acclimatise to. Let the grazing begin.

This is a painting of Stockport Town Hall by our lad. His work will be on sale as postcards, tote bags, prints at 'Make it Marple' Market on March 15th if you're in the area that day.

On St. David's Day I've selected this Welsh act as my choice of listening.

Watching several new Doves videos in anticipation of their new release today. They sure do like invoking a depersonalised tall building city landscape.

Site of the current Chethams Music School where entrance structure still remains. Drawing by Hedley Fitton for C19th novel Manchester Man. Looks like the aftermath of a Manchester rainfall.

It has previously been a long detour to basically cross this busy single lane road so a crossing here is good news and should be celebrated in local councillor's newsletters (but they won't for risk of riling vocal anti active travel people).

Will try and add pictures from the local Cale Green Park 2012 calender with every new month. This is February's picture with St. George's Church in background.

Probably not a good idea but I replied to a Facebook group venting their spleen about an increase in Greater Manchester's walking & cycling budget.

I did mourn the previous Seven Miles Out for its theme nights, gigs & keyboard lessons upstairs with Kayme but the return of the Angel has fitted like a warm glove.

Can only take up so many patreon podcasts (esp when I've just seen one renewed considerably higher than last years intro price) so just bought these from some favourite podcasters with birthday money.

Today I've been inserting some drawings of Superchunk 30 years apart for a zine (SC fans I know they've been personnel changes since drawing of last 2nd pic).

This. Partner's school deputy head passed away at just 54, after 30 yrs teaching & will never see the tributes on school communication platform from families & teachers.

Today's reading: Story of woman dragged down by her environment & people around her. Rubs our noses in squalor with blow by blow breakdown & pages of pub bores elucidating views. No social workers or child safeguarding in slums of C19th Paris & police more irked by sleights against the Emperor.

Watching Captain Sensible last night apply a can of beer along strings & fret of a guitar for Curtain Call thinking 'How does that work?' Looked up slide guitar: 'Any type of smooth hard material that allows tones to reasonate' can be used
