I had a similar experience. I luv father ted & occasionally interacted with him ages ago. He was tweeting about the guy who taught his dog to Nazi salute, I replied to him something about it & he QTd me “another fucking idiot” to start a pile on. I was surprised & said so. He deleted & apologised.

2 things before that I think were relevant. He took on all the far right online crazies during gamergate. It was brave of him & he took a tonne of shit off them. Then he started posting about he & wife losing a baby, still born I think. Then he started his descent into this transphobic hate thing.

He’s had some sort of catastrophic breakdown IMO. He wasn’t always like this. Not that this means we should excuse any of the pain and damage he has caused with his bigotry obvs.

I’m a socialist, but I started thinking about things differently after reader David Graeber. Tho I’m closely politically aligned with him, he describes himself as an anarchist, cos he doesn’t think the 1st recourse to solving social issues should be more state legislation. There are always options.

It can’t be done. Mars has no magnetosphere to deflect cosmic radiation. It’s fundamentally inhospitable to human life.
