Oh 100%. My friend group and I are pretty sure we'd survive a "the thing" incident simply by randomly quoting lines from HFRO. Super quotable, easy to watch, and probably the apex of "TNT film on tv halfway through that you have to watch to the end".

"I said speak your mind, Jack, but Jesus!"

Oh that'd be a fun exercise. DC united / Williams feels right as well

And 100% Alpine/Rapids.

A podcast I listen to, from video game guys, is shift F1. I really like it, www.f1.cool worth a listen. Especially their pre-season primers.

It took every fiber in my body not to (and I still failed) to call many of the races "Pablo-ball-like"

FWIW, Canada 2011 is a race that I think is a great example of what it can be. www.youtube.com/watch?v=koqq...

eh, I wouldn't say wrong. I think you DO get some bangers. But I think a lot of the races would better be described as "tactics heavy" than "now this is podracing"
December 7, 2025 at 6:24 PM
I have friends who compare F1 races to things like the indy 500, and, frankly, it'll always lose. Indy 500 is madness and a one off event.

I think I enjoy the "oh wow, this guy finally figured out how to start off the line!" or "oh shit, Yuki is out but still a res. driver so will he torpedo?"

Yeah, I think it's an interesting sport. It's my most "slow burn" one. I can keep tabs on the drivers and the teams fairly easily so I have that aspect, but I don't need to be constantly tuned in
December 7, 2025 at 6:21 PM
ah yeah, there's a lot of "welp, fell asleep right about when the pit stops were happening" in this sport
December 7, 2025 at 6:06 PM
But yeah, YMMV. I think your comment about the end of the spec being spot on. You can even look at this season entirely in terms of teams succeeding or failing at continuing to develop through the year. Without the new model next year pulling resources, I think it'd be a very different result
December 7, 2025 at 5:26 PM
I've been following the sport for about 12 years now, but I'm not much of an apologist. Mostly I find the interest to be the combination of season/team situations vs individual races. So yeah, the collection of races aren't as exciting as they could be, but the connective tissue elevates them all

Out of curiosity, are you wondering why it's so popular as a sport or against other motorsports?
December 7, 2025 at 5:23 PM
I'm starting to learn there's a legit core of birding/fullcasters out there and I'm super stoked about it

So as someone who's only real intro to romance of the three kingdoms was dynasty warriors and then total war, is there a good way you'd recommend to learn about the original tales?

So while they can say "see, not a problem with the schedule", it's only getting exacerbated and it feels like the answer I'm hearing is "well it wasn't a problem before, so it won't be one now". So yeah, some problem thought through (or the messaging of it) would be awesome
November 15, 2025 at 10:46 PM
Maybe the real problem was letting KSE get away without a covered pitch in the first place. But the "no more than 3 in-a-row" premise combined with the crapshoot that is CO weather until mid-May is gonna be exciting to deal with! Like, this was already an issue BEFORE the schedule switch
November 15, 2025 at 10:42 PM
I've been to multiple games below 10 degrees F in the past few years in the scheduled season they say "won't be an issue". I'm not saying it's not solvable, I'd just like to know what the plan is!
