It’s hard to understand why folks would choose to get their coffee out of a capsule rather than from a bean of their own choosing brewed in a simple device!

Here is the @garda.ie datum for fatalities showing 136 fatalities (as of 14/10/25) compared to 2024 outcome of 133. 44 of these in 2025, so far, are active travel users (32% of total).
#VisionZero is #ZeroVision on this minister's watch.

The pocket forest of native broadleaf tree established by Scouting Ireland at it activity centre at Lough Dan was only possible by using tubes to protect the saplings from bracken & deer/sheep grazing. My image from Aug shows bracken density.

With leaf fall well underway & twigs/branches from storm damage lying near the edge of the road it’s time to remind drivers that bike users will be taking the lanes.
This is national #roadsafety week but our road safety agencies are silent on this hazard.

We have been in a steadily increasing wave of #COVID19 over the summer/autumn months as reported by @hspc.bsky.social respiratorydisease-hpscireland.hub.arcgis.com/pages/covid-19
Chart covers 26 May - 22 September.
Lots of folks in my circle ill with it (66% knew someone who had it recently).

air quality safe.
Needless to say I was wearing a respirator throughout the flight (FFP2), but no one else was masked.

Here's a plot of fertiliser imports into #Ireland over recent years.
By far the greatest tonnage is for N-compounds, with a marked up tick in 2023-'24.
Intensive ruminant production sucks nitrogen & our rivers/lakes show it, but let's hold onto the #NitratesDerogation & sacred cows.

That’s a definite +ve! We’re told that #COVID19 is over. This was likely contracted in a local gastropub last Friday that was packed with a lot of HCWs from the local acute hospital where no staff use an appropriate respirator in patient-facing exams.
Public health is shot!

So what's the plan for those of you I/C road safety?
c. 32% of fatalities so far involved #ActiveTravel users.
#VisionZero is not a slogan.

Out in our city again today around the Grafton Quarter, no less, but struck again by the mess that is our pavements. These ones from Duke Street.
Note three segments of different paviours over a 8 m stretch as well as the tat left by road openings with tarmac infill!
Cllrs, do you care about it?

We have nothing comparable for the many vehicular impacts, particularly with active travel users.
We need to change how we investigate RTCs.

These local hand-cut granite paviours on many street pavements in #Dublin are superior to the cast concrete slabs or imported cut white granite.

Great that Mat Cooper @todayfm.bsky.social has provided John with a weekly slot on his radio programme.

Sadly the Moby flooding of bike stands thereby blocking private bike access to the hoops brings further opposition to rental 2-wheel electro-mobility.
This from Sandymount earlier where I found two separate stands full.

So goats have been brought onto Killiney Hill park to control vegetation in the hope of them grazing on the gorse to reduce the fire risk. I’m not sure what the ecological end point will be.
August 10, 2025 at 4:24 PM
Seagulls always wheeling & screeching overhead when in #Dublin looking to scavenge on our streets.
Of course we still permit this type of commercial premises waste disposal.

Finally the major radial route bus lanes serving @dublincitycouncil.bsky.social go 24/7, but will the 24/7 enforcement be there?

Unacceptably high value. #COVID19 isn’t over.

With Moby bikes "discarded constantly" and one set on fire, a Dublin councilor wants a review of bicycle share
has “now prompted the firm to impose new fines on users who fail to return the bikes to designated parking zones.”
Please let’s keep bike-share bikes away
