Wasn’t the point of the OG Austin powers that he couldn’t behave in the 90s the way he did in the 70s because woke

Here’s the hospital where I had my oldest and did my prenatal care. If you aren’t on Australia’s single-payer Medicare system, these are the out of pocket costs. Written down. On a website. For you to see. www.thewomens.org.au/patients-vis...

I am half thinking we’ll fall back-asswards into single payer now that Trump is all mad about so much money going to insurers and how it should be between people and care providers. Yeah! Insurance sucks! You’re almost there! Keep going!

This bullshit about putting money back in peoples’ hands to let them get together and competitively shop for care is just that - bullshit. It is not a thing that happens in our system. It is impossible. People will not get care they need.

In what may have been a radicalizing event for my parents, they watched a man try to pay cash for X-rays at a radiologist. They turned him away saying they had no way to either tell him the cost or accept cash instead of insurance.

When I stepped on a bat that had gotten into our house I called around a few ERs to ask for rabies shot costs. No one could tell me. Not even an estimate. “Just come to the ER and then our billing department will run it.”

We wanted to help our exchange student get a flu shot. Went to multiple pharmacies to ask what it would cost w/o insurance, as she only has emergency coverage in the US. Most said “idk, she has to be here registered for an appt and then we’ll try running it and see.” They guessed $60-$180.
