I can't find any reference of Cruise ever having had security provided by any British police service, let alone the SEG.

Please don't just spout "facts" without providing references.

With Moss I assume you're talking about her wedding (it's the only reference I can find of her having police support), this was a mix of private security and local police enforcing a local council approved road closure.

There is a big difference between "having security" and having security provided by the SEG, the SEG almost exclusively work with the royals and politicians, hence the recent uproar at Swift being offered security by them.

Not being a follower of celebrities I was unaware that Swift had been given protection by the SEG, but it seems to have caused some controversy.

However I can find no mention of either Cruise or Moss having been given protection by the SEG. Do you have sources that show they have?

Just to put your mind at rest, I've never read a tabloid paper in my life, I prefer to take my news from less salicious and pernicious sources.

Well, one side of the story has been quite publicly aired, fortunately the rest of the family held onto their dignity.

And of course people from the US telling the UK how its policies work looks entirely sane.

He made the choice to stop being a working royal and to leave the UK, once that happens the UK has no obligation to pay for his security. It's not the family that pays for their security, it's UK taxpayers.

Well now, I'm not sure whether you realise this or not but the UK famously has some of the most trusted media outlets in the world.

Note that I'm not saying that all UK media outlets are to be trusted, but that some are incredibly well respected.

How have they put his family in danger? He chose to leave the family, to leave the UK and to publicly slate his family. All his choices.
