Long Down.

The Long Down, near Cam in Gloucestershire, showing off it's springtime winter.

At the start of the video you can see the Cotswolds, that this is a part of, the middle shows the Malvern hills, and the end the hills of the Forest of Dean and the Black Mountains in South Wales.

Blackthorn.

Hot spring days are not normal in the UK, so I've been making the most of the current warm spell and getting out every day with the camera if I can.

Missed.

This winter was strange here, rarely very cold, very little snow and lots of misty days. It almost felt like autumn had just hung on until spring decided to turn up. I missed winter.

Senses.

One of my favourite parts of spring is walking through woodland and coming across wild garlic. Not only is it visually beautiful but the scent fills the air in an assault on the noise.

It makes great garlic butter too!

Up.

Some days you just need to lay back and watch the clouds roll past.

Spring.

Is there a more perfect place to be than an English woodland on a beautiful spring day?

Severn.

Just after dawn in the Severn vale, where the UK's longest river meanders it's way between the Cotswolds and the hills of the Forest of Dean on the other, and before anyone else woke up I was shooting this tranquil scene from my drone.

Hopes.

11 months ago we had the most incredible aurora show, as seen in a previous post. Last night the aurora alerts went red again. Unfortunately this time there was only the faintest of glows visible through the camera.

Dawn.

Closer to home, in fact just outside my village. Returning home from photographing the sunrise I noticed this scene as I drove home. Stop the car, jump out, grab the shot, back in the car and home for a bacon sandwich. Heaven!

Eyes everywhere.

Another Florida photo, this time out in the wild at the wonderful Circle B Bar reserve in Lakeland.

Whenever I'm out in nature my eyes are darting all over the place, even so I needed a little bit of luck. My first ever wild raccoon.

Heat.

It was a particularly hot day when I visited Wild Florida back in 2023 and this Cape buffalo was making the most of its nice deep pool to keep cool. I love Wild Florida, the air boat trips are great and the safari drive was a wonderful new addition when I went

Food.

Puffins have long been one of my favourite birds, part Pierrot clown, part transformer (they look nothing like this in winter) and part rainbow.

They have an amazing bill adaptation - their bills open parallel to each other so that they can hold lots of fish.

Height.

Sitting on the edge of the highest chalk cliff in the UK, Beachy Head, over 500 feet above the shoreline below, is one hell of a way to cure a hangover!

Taken on a boy's weekend away many years ago.

Jarman's Boat.

Dungeness is a photographers paradise, and no part more so than Prospect Cottage and garden, former home of the director, filmmaker and gay rights activist Derek Jarman.

Memories.

Starting this new platform has made me think about the photos I've taken over the years.

This shot, of an Amur leopard called Artem, was taken 14 years ago on a borrowed camera (thanks dad) and a hired lens.

Wye.

The Wye valley plays a big part in my photography, scenes like this are a constant inspiration.

My photography is about more than just the final image, it's about the moment, being out in nature, the solitude and the stillness, both in the scene and in my head. It's my meditation

Start big.

For most of my life I've dreamed of seeing a full colour display of the northern lights but never thought I'd see anything like this in the UK, let alone just a few miles from my home in southern England. I doubt I'll ever see a more wonderful display in my lifetime.
