Frequently confused for a network that played music videos
Less so, but yes it's there. Fire & Ash uses it in the trailer since they used the "bad things are happening" song from the first film that featured that.

I bet they wanted a name more evocative of the menu. While never a vegan restaurant, you basically have to put No Hamburgers in your park restaurant's name if it doesn't serve hamburgers. Even back then, probably especially back then when visitors were less diverse.

Fair, sir?

Yep, CTRL+A moves you to the front and CTRL+K deleted everything. I knew about CTRL+U but for some reason this always felt cleaner.

Technically, "We Need a Little Christmas" isn't a Christmas song, but good luck getting through with that one.

I have nothing against the people who write for IGN etc, but their bosses have led them to a place where they've completely lost me to podcasts and streams. Some of them are hosted by people who used to work for those sites.

If someone I watch is behind a harassment campaign, I drop them.

I used to think "there's no way I'd watch some streamer over quality journalism" but I stopped because streamers give me current games instead of 2027 rumors.

There's so much less focus on the current than there was in a whole graveyard of destroyed Ziff-Davis domains that I used to visit.

A little, but scratching the surface of why is conclusions like "Polygon/IGN/Kotaku promoted it all year" and the access nature of traditional 1998-2015 online media.

But I ignore those outlets, I think Keighley's shows are the only time I pay attention. Usually because streamers are reacting live.

The most time I spent reading words and watching videos of games they were extensive multi-page breakdowns of games that were actually out and I could go buy right now, a few weeks at most. Not games coming 18 months from publication. That came with the focus on sequels and "when it's done" dev.

I'll disagree with "in games, what’s next is all that matters." I read fewer online outlets than every anymore, and with every three years or so it dwindles ever further, because people talk so obsessively about what's next.

But at the end of the day, they take the approach that it's PlayStation's game, it's PlayStation's nomination, and if PlayStation laid off Melissa from the art department then she sits at home while a PlayStation representative takes the award for the thing that she did.

They're mocking the Oscars, and the Oscars embraced the corporate personhood of studios long ago. Actors and directors go because audiences want to see them, and producers essentially buy their way on the stage. And a lot of people won awards that don't get an envelope opening onstage.

It also has successful labor strike leader Fran Drescher, so I see it as a bit of a draw.

That's putting aside the person who was mad that ADA seating couldn't see the Primals because rows in front were removed to create a concert-like "pit" of standing room only. Even though I am able-bodied I very much expected that. I put that aside because ADA doesn't guarantee you can see the band.

And keep in mind:
* They had nowhere near enough chairs for the crowd
* They didn't mark where to stand in line until day 2
* The fire marshal got mad at them for shoving too many people in a room with one exit.
that was *before* the layoffs to the regional office.

While I personally felt like I saw a disastrously unplanned event, in my brain I know that SE had not held a fan fest with an audience in five years and the very first one being messy isn't surprising.
But they just don't know how to run an event to NA requirements, including fire codes and ADA.
November 27, 2025 at 10:50 PM
I don't have a problem blaming SE directly. The NA Fan Fest was similarly poorly planned last time. They do have an events staff, since I shared an elevator with someone with an SE Events staff helping move the Primals equipment around, but most people on the floor are volunteers or contracted.

It only got a theatrical release in the UK, I believe. It was about a year ago and is copying so much of Die Hard that it stops feeling like an homage.
November 17, 2025 at 1:17 AM
So many movies trying to be Die Hard these days (Daisy Ridley did a laughable stinker) but they actually mimicked the "welcome to the party pal" pose and camera angle when he was talking to the guy yelling at himself down below on the street. (The one that was secretly Old Eminem, Bounty Hunter.)

I have no doubt Xbox will eventually make something like this with the cut+down build of Windows they created for the ROG handheld. Steam is just trying to beat them to availability and establish a user base before Xbox makes something similar.

Does this include McConnell's ruling on waivers? I need to have an recertification interview but I have no idea what the current state of waivers is.

I'm saying that their live service games are run around the world and could benefit from a global team rather than being run entirely from Japan. Not that those reasons are getting people laid off, but laying people off is a step backward.
