Catcher framing is similar to annoying NBA players who flop in an attempt to trick the ref. Both are grey areas but one is much more flagrant and imo game ruining. Will be glad to see ABS obliterate framing to the dustbin of history because I don't respect "Tricking old men" as a baseball skill.

I am not Keith, but my take at least is that pitchers are not systematically tricking umpires in the same way catchers have been taught to do.

To make a cross sport analogy, some pitchers being able to expand the zone is akin to offensive linemen knowing how to apply a subtle hold on a pass rusher

Similar to NBA, a lot of MLB fans basically treat defense as having zero value (Let alone base running) when doing casual analysis.

Maybe if we had a slash line for defense?
