We as well analysed closely all the processes that were differentially regulated 🧐🔍 and applied a statistical approach to determine which signature processes reign at each phase, you might be surprised by some of them! (6/11)

With this approach we could define the Core Network. This network contains the genes that are co-expressed throughout the whole cell cycle. All of those housekeeping processes that maintain it. Check it out!! (5/11)

Why so many?! So that we could construct consensus Gene Co-expression Networks (GCNs)!
GCNs give us information on the correlation of the expression of pairs of genes, providing a different insight from classical differential gene expression. (4/11)

We obtained transcriptomes of samples enriched in the M-G1 (M, D and G1), S and G2 phases of the cell cycle. For each phase we sequenced 15 replicates! 😱💸

We unveiled some secrets of the cell cycle in the thermoacidophilic archaeon Saccharolobus islandicus.
S. islandicus follows a eukaryotic-like cell cycle with five phases: a first gap phase, G1; a replication phase, S; a second gap phase, G2; and a segregation and division phases, M and D.(2/11)

I am officially a doctor now and I have been awarded the tools to defend my work 🗡️🎩

I'm very grateful to my co-supervisors @mkrupovic.bsky.social and Virginija Cvirkaite-Krupovic
And also all my labmates, friends and family 😄
I am so happyyy!!!
