Everyone is vulnerable to believing that their expertise - writing, tech, engineering, philosophy, whatever - is The Most Important One that’s going to Fix Everything, but there’s something unique about gambling addicts saying “what if we tried gambling our way to the truth?”

Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.
