Painting the night pink.
Bridges on the Sumida from above and far away at dusk. Telephoto lens makes it look like one tiny patch of pink is the entire sky, and I love that for us. Colors evoke neo-Tokyo vibes, whatever that even means.

the light we let in
Red maple leaves reaching over a bokeh yellow background, likely ginkgo. There is enough light everywhere for everything to feel special. Momiji against bokeh lights that happen when the light shines through the gaps in a tree behind it. Single yellow ginkgo leaf against bokeh background, waiting patiently to have its picture taken before it falls. Ginkgo trees wrapping their yellow leaves around Tokyo Skytree as if in a warm hug. Low winter sun finds a way to shine through and sparkle, which is very like her.

I’m seeing a lot of gorgeous ginkgo trees from shrines in Kyoto on my feed right now and I can’t help thinking that the Sensoji ginkgo would totally look like them too if not for that time firebombs were dropped directly on their heads but guess what Kyoto you’ll never do this.

Last night’s Japanorama
Thin orange line stretching across Tokyo skyline, turning greenish and then a deep blue as you pan up. The lights in the windows let you know that the buildings are there. Teeny tiny Tokyo tower on the far left, some Nihonbashi area skyscrapers, then Mt. Fuji on the right, whose beauty I shall never tire of.

Sunflowers in December, idyllic little houses with an amazing view, and a big ass stratovolcano with unreal symmetry with some snow on the peak that you can sort of see if you look but also can’t really because the orange light is fading now.

The world according to a half-charred and hollowed out survivor of the Tokyo firebombings that is actually the most compelling site at Sensoji but no one pays any notice because it has been relegated to the smoking area seeing as humans are inherent dicks. Pretty though.

Sun shining through Momiji at Sumida park this morning near a stone lantern. River reflecting the whole spectacle, making it into a bigger deal than it is. No actually it is already a pretty big deal.
