The Vivienne embodied a major part of UK drag - her wit, her paint, her humour, her vocals. Watching her career rise across the years, she struck me as the natural successor to the likes of Lily Savage. What a supremely talented queen - we bow to thee. Rest well.

During the pandemic 17 firms supplied £119m worth of PPE that was deemed unusable in the NHS. Since the start of 2024, they’ve made £83.6m. How is this even possible?

On this day in 1885, Southampton Football Club played their first game, beating local side Freemantle 5-1. The local paper reported that St Mary's Young Men’s Association football team ‘showed that they have among their members the material with which to form a fairly strong club with practice.’

If you bring central London to a halt in order to campaign against catastrophic climate change then you're a "barmy" eco "fanatic" who deserves to be locked up.

If you do the same to hang on to your multimillion pound inheritance tax exemption then you're a brave freedom fighter defying the odds

Without trade unions & the workers willing to back them we wouldn’t have

• a minimum wage

• maternity & paternity rights

• pension provision

• holiday & sickness entitlements

victories which have benefited every single person in this country

Good.

It is completely immoral that private providers can charge extortionate prices to cash-strapped councils for child social care.

Fifteen years ago, #saintsfc were third from bottom in League One. This time four years ago, we were fourth in the Prem. Since then, relegation, promotion and (probably) another relegation now. Can never say life is dull with #Southampton 🔴⚪️📈📉

This weeks heartbreaking BBCNews report that schoolchildren from struggling families are pretending to eat out of empty lunchboxes to save their embarrassment at having no food is exactly why we should all join @bigissue in calling for a POVERTY ZERO LAW👇
🚨Millions of people in this country are living in poverty, destitution & using food banks. It’s barely getting a mention.

I’m joining forces with @bigissue.bsky.social in calling for a POVERTY ZERO LAW - a statutory duty for every gov’t to set POVERTY REDUCTION TARGETS
