Finally have something looking like a more polished camera. There's still work to be done but the core functionality is there and flexible for the future. It has:
-Controller/Mouse mode
-Auto Follow
-Lock-on
-Strafe
-First-Person
-N64 Controller compatibility

It was interesting to see Dan Abnett credited with story, who I know from his work on 40k books. This ‘roided-out Conan and his companions have basically nothing in common with Howard’s writing save a few line drops, but I can’t deny there’s a cheap fun to it. Space Marine Conan

I have mixed feelings on these but mostly positive. These show a complex Conan whose barbaric values threaten to make him a lawless tyrant while he tries to protect his family and fight battles. There’s a compelling viciousness but less fantasy and threatens to become GOTish.

I thought both of these were good. 261 was the better of the two, in having Conan work with a former foe and the fun magic of Khalaari’s crown. They both show Conan as rogue and tempered hero.
The highlight of 186 was the ship combat and siren subplot.

The Conan lot was a real mixed bag. 139 was pretty weak. The comics have the unenviable job of taking a mostly quiet character and giving him a lot to say.
I’ve read about half of Howard’s Conan stories, so I’m familiar but not an expert. This Conan’s manner of speech is different

Honestly was a bit disappointed with these. I know Sonja is a major character of S&S and the movie is ok, but I found these kinda forgettable next to the other stuff. But any portrayal of Thulsa without JEJ’s commanding cadence is a difficult road.

Age of Ice was kinda meh but og Warlands was the gold in the box. Great fantasy feel to the whole thing, a bit heavy on stock ideas but not bad. I liked the art style a lot, it’s definitely of its time, would have loved both of these as a kid. Very Lodoss War

I’ve read the short story Three Kings in Darkness that the Elric issue is based on but not Corum.
Corum had a lot in common with Dragonrok but was in many ways more captivating with complex events and better imagination. Not just the color

There’s a lot to like here, I really like the character designs and art. The villain could be a lot of fun but maybe already goes too far, and the dialogue is kinda childish and the setup so far is a little tryhard and unfocused.
If it improves I’ll check out more.

I’m conflicted on this one. I think it’s an isekai? It’s got serious heavy drama on the real world side and goofy shlock on the fantasy world and great art. Yet together I didn’t find it all that compelling.
It’s the only one reaching for elevated themes so maybe it was a bad pairing.

This was clearly the start of a sequel series. The first half being dedicated to mourning a character and the second half a different story.
Art was nice, story/presentation was a little bland, very direct, though I’m missing a lot of context. Goofy back cover quote.

Going to guess this was a passionate amateur project, though it looks like it got wide enough distribution that lots of copies are available.
Pretty funny how all the minor conflicts are solved by the mc simply stating “I’m a goddess” and that solves the problems.

Thundercats HammerHand’s Revenge #2 had some nice art but the most egregious ads of the lot, most for early 00s games.
I don’t much care for He-Man and I’m waiting until I see the movie for Dark Crystal to dive into the adaptation

I thought both of these were great. I liked the characters of Arak, Satyricus, and Valda, and the stories were stronger than the Arak insert in Warlord No48. The locations in these comics were really well realized. I’ll probably seek out the rest of this one.

More edgelord that warlord imo. I didn’t care for this one as much. The art/story wasn’t for me. All fine, but I’d sooner read more of the old Warlord than this one.

48 was the better of the two. Some good humor and a self contained story, but interrupted by two side stories, Arak and Claw. Fun camp.
85 was fine but lacking context. It’s sci-fi side story, Confrontation, was more interesting.

Liked this one a lot, surprisingly, Despite the classic superhero look. Lyrical writing, an interesting cast, an effective opening conflict; I will probably check out more of it.

I want to like this one. Awesome cover, weird premise, but non-stop poor exposition. With only 6 issues, so there’s only 4 left to tell a coherent story with lots of characters, I’m doubtful, but I might follow up on it.
