Over the first seven months of 2025, the economy has added 597,000 jobs.

Over the first seven months of 2024 — when Trump said the economy was terrible — the total was over 1 million jobs.

U.S. job growth turns cold as Trump’s agenda takes its toll on the economy
The question for the White House is simple: “If Trump has created a ‘hot’ economy, why has American job growth slowed to a 16-year low?”

Just for the record, Wiatrowski is a longtime BLS employee, a dedicated public servant, someone who has been acting commissioner before, and someone I would have total confidence in during a normal transfer of power. The scary part is who they replace *him* with.

Lemme just say if President Bernie Sanders had unilaterally imposed, by executive fiat, hundreds of billions of new taxes, personally browbeat executives about job cuts and investments and then fired the head of BLS, the Chamber of Commerce and the business orgs would not be sitting idly by.
one thing that keeps happening is Trump taking major steps which impose large, often asymmetric costs on American business, and American business doing fucking nothing in response
Unquestionably the most dangerous and corrupt attack on the independence of US economic data in American history. Trump is firing the head of the BLS, a longtime civil servant confirmed 86-8 by the Senate, simply because the job numbers came in below his expectations today

So Ghislaine Maxwell’s pretty clearly blackmailing Trump, just as much as he’s trying to bribe her, yes?

The Epstein case is rattling Trump’s base. “Trump can't lose very much of these voters," says @stuartpstevens.bsky.social.

Republicans in vulnerable seats must start speaking out-- and Dems need to call them out if they don’t, he adds. #Velshi
Conspiracies launched Trump’s political career– now they may be his undoing
The outrage among Trump’s MAGA base shows no signs of abating, especially with new reports that Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell has been transferred to a lesser-security prison. Even right-leaning influencers like Joe Rogan are now calling Trump out for betraying his base and refusing to release Epstein files. Trump launched his political career by flirting with conspiracy theories. Now, it may be his undoing. "A lot of politics is about small numbers," says former GOP strategist Stuart Stevens, and “Trump can’t afford to lose very many of these voters,” he warns.
