2024 is the year of crocheting cephalopods.
That was my strategy for a good month! 🤣

I live in a house of the same era, so I totally get what you're saying! I was always nervous carrying my kid up and down the stairs, especially in the newborn stage.

Thank you!

Love this: "...there are two yields for reactions: Enough and Not Enough"

That's always been my experience as well.

I'm going to look for those. I have some nice ski gloves with the heat reflector lining from Columbia, but those don't work for me much below 0F/-20C.

Brutal.

Maybe mittens are the answer? Separating the fingers (even gloves inside of mittens) seems to make my fingers very cold.

I have the same problem with my hands, and I'm *still* trying to figure gloves/mittens out.
December 4, 2025 at 7:33 PM
Ooo... I should try some silk glove liners.

We've lived in this cold climate for almost 2 decades, and I still haven't optimized glove/mittens. Tho the rechargeable handwarmers are pretty great.

Seconding Darn Tough socks. I live where it routinely gets to -40 for weeks, and those keep my feet toasty (in appropriate boots).

💯 Agree.

That gingerbread... swoon.

I ran across a pattern for a crocheted pigeon cross body bag this weekend, and I immediately thought of you and Pete! (Tho I'm not entirely convinced the patterns aren't AI slop, which is why I'm not linking.)

We got one of these during the pandemic, so I'd have somewhere to take calls when the kid and spouse both had to. I hated the one we got, because every time I typed, the tray moved. So, just look at reviews before committing.

I replaced it with a set of wooden TV trays and am much happier.

Those tights/leggings are pretty amazing!

💯

Thanks! I have now added it to my wish list!

First, impressive number of hand-knit socks. Beautiful work.

Second, I like that tiered drying rack. I may have to look into one of those. It doesn't have as large of a footprint as mine.

I have been taken in by at least one AI picture of a "crocheted" project.

My recent annoyance is obviously AI recipes or at least the pictures that accompany the recipes. Maddening

I may need to see if a Dollarama near me has them. So cute, and perfect for a friend!

All the best on your drive!

Fair points. And that is extremely frustrating.

I've had success not turning into a grease ball with this sunscreen: well.ca/products/aus...

Somehow, after I run and sweat, it looks even better?

It's the em dashes that kill me. I've been using them since before I had a computer. (Yes, I am old.)
November 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Excellent list. In this case: yes, yes!!!, and yes.
November 3, 2025 at 11:45 PM
I would have preferred 2 min run/1 min walk for that race, but neither me nor my running partner were able to get there. We still finished, which is all that matters! (And it was a PB for me, as it's the only 10-mi race I've done! 😂)
November 3, 2025 at 9:20 PM
Yeah, I that's how I trained for my first 10K and first half marathon. That in-person support and knowledge is really great!

Plus, the group ethos was no one got left behind, which I loved.
