I bought a tiny microphone, why? I’m not sure, Yet! But I’m hoping to do something creative and useful…

Feel like I’ve dressed as someone cosplaying as a psychologist today… I didn’t bring a cigar.

Love the autumn but sad that this might be the last bunch of cut dahlias from the garden - I will make an extra effort to enjoy them while report writing (sorry can’t visit this week, I need to look at my flowers 👀)

(6/7) EPs can play a key role in training and supporting facilitators, but limited capacity means schools will need creative, collaborative approaches to embed supervision effectively.
The study also offers a practice framework for schools and EPs to build on (see below).

(3/7) Where it is used, peer supervision supports professional growth, problem-solving, and teacher wellbeing.
Teachers valued safe, collaborative spaces to reflect and share, particularly voluntary, unstructured models without senior oversight or external facilitators (this included EPs!)

(2/7) Currently, many teachers have little or no access to peer supervision at school. This contributed to the way in which it is largely misunderstood or confused with performance management, perceived as surveillance, or confused with other support mechanisms, such as coaching or mentoring...

(1/7) I’m delighted to share an article co-authored with Dr Lucy Browne, published in this month’s Educational and Child Psychology. Our study explored teachers’ views on peer supervision, its role in CPD, and its impact on wellbeing. explore.bps.org.uk/content/bpse... Key insights below:

I like to use CAP as a model to guide consultation, the hierarchical structure to the domains can unlock new thinking or highlight pathway barriers-I think attention skills is often overlooked! I also like using IFFs in consultation to highlight what is observable/known and how that links to Attain.

I’ve been introducing different models of supervision to a group of SENCOs and only armoured with a baggie of different everyday objects, I was pleasantly surprised how rich the reflections were / what meaning was uncovered while using the IMAGO model of supervision. #edpsychs

Me completing the little woodland walk needed to get back to my car after visiting a fully outdoor kintergarden set in woodland surrounded by bluebells. The person-centred meeting took place in a Wigwam. Wonderful morning. #edpsychs

The latest issue of EPRaP is out and it is an absolute humdinger! Thank you to all of the authors and contributors. Definitely a few papers I’m going to check out over the (it can’t come soon enough) long bank holiday weekend. #edpsychs

Really enjoyed the LGBTQ+ History month panel event @waterstones Piccadilly last week. It was really interesting to hear William Hussey, Cynthia So, and Simon James Green, discuss the themes within their work and the importance of LGBTQ+ representation within YA love stories.

If you have a moment, take a look at the most recent issue of Educational Psychology Research and Practice. The 10th volume of the open access periodical focuses on global psychology topics that will certainly be of interest to the #edpsychs and #edusky communities.

I haven’t had an eye test for 6 years.. based on my experience of the world my eyesight seemed fine… turns out those pesky positivist optometrist tests say my eyesight is in fact, not fine 🤷‍♂️. So here I am, round frames and tweed, further leaning into the stereotype. Happy Friday everyone #edpsychs

I adore the gentle, cosy, romantic approach Heartstopper has to growing up. Watching Season 3 I’m truly impressed with its sensitive and accessible approach to relationships, school transitions, mental health and the LGBTQIA+ experience. I wish it existed when I was a teen. Go watch/read!

Another book recommendation, it’s a cosy fantasy about Linus Baker, a gov worker visiting a home for looked-after children. Linus is tasked by ‘extremely upper management’ to assess the children and the home’s ’unconventional approach’. It’s funny, heartwarming and oozes EP values. loved it!
