Ooo great question! It’s called a transmitter, we make sure it weighs less than 5% of their body weight and it helps us track them. It gives us great information for management, as they are a threatened species😓🐢

It’s a Blanding’s Turtle!
They do something very similar to hibernation! Brumation for reptiles (not all of them do it mind you). But they actually do have to be underwater! They absorb oxygen through their skin, neck, and cloaca (or bum). I will do a video on it soon☺️
