It truly sucks that it falls on the consumer to do extra work so they don't get ripped off, and that those who profit from the practice are usually already billionaires. Both the chains I mentioned tend to pop up in low income areas, and IMO, squeezing already struggling folks is beyond immoral.

I have a suggestion. Nearly all of us carry a camera around in our pockets all the time now. Using it to photograph signs as you shop should be enough to stop hidden mark-ups. Maybe not, but if enough people are a gigantic pain in the ass about it, the scam stops being profitable.

You must not be cheating by using a bread machine, like I do. That loaf is a normal shape.

Having a discussion about this with Erin, on FB. We just cancelled a trip to Costa Rica for this same reason. I wouldn't mind being stranded in another country, it's ICE. I would not survive a two week separation from my medication. (No thyroid gland) I was really excited about this trip.
