Everyone. Go watch the movie Miral if you haven't. Now. Even if it means renting it from Amazon. Though it seems to also be on youtube and Google Play so if you can rent it from one of those, probably better.

Learn Palestinian embroidery online with writer Fatima Shaat, whom I mentored through We Are Not Numbers. The donation for the classes goes to her family in Gaza who are all still living in a tent, as their home is destroyed. It will be a small class of up to 8 people, and there are 7 spots left.

Tatreez with FatimaOver two one-hour sessions, Fatima will walk eight participants through starting a tatreez project while we share in conversation.Tatreez is a traditional style of Palestinian embroidery. This class is open for people of all experience levels and will be held virtually in English. The first session will be on Saturday, October 18th at 9:00am Pacific time/ 12:00 Eastern time/ 5:00 British Summer Time. To attend, please go to tinyurl.com/tatreezwithfatima. This form provides payment information. All funds raised from this course will go to helping Fatima’s family, still in the Gaza Strip, with their ongoing survival.Who is Fatima? — @shaatfatima Born and raised in the Gaza Strip, Fatima is a brilliant writer and law student. After her family was displaced and forced to live in a tent, Fatima’s mother taught her tatreez to cope with the struggles surviving this genocide. Fatima eventually evacuated to Europe for school, but her family remains in Gaza. She would like to share this skill with the community who supports Gaza.View all comments

My mentee Fatima just evacuated from Gaza on a scholarship and is trying to raise money to support her family back home through two one-hour tatreez (Palestinian embroidery) classes next weekend. Information on how to sign up is at the end of her video.

Thanks to Hudson Review for including RING in its Ode to the Indies summer fiction review! It's not Ring's best review, but it makes me feel avant garde! Are you one of the very curious readers the reviewer recommends the book to, because you want to read a book unlike any you've read before?

This account is for my books but I stopped posting about my novel because who cares during a holocaust? Here's the link to my recommended reading list on complicated grief and traumatic loss, including a book by Mosab Abu-Toha, with a link at the end to read part of my novel online. Compromise.

Promoting another LGBTQ-owned bookstore. You can order my book or just about any other book online through Reach and Teach instead of through Amazon (or shop there in person if you're near San Carlos, CA-- they carry my book and many others in their store as well).

My novel RING takes place outside Attawapiskat, Ontario. The band Midnight Shine isn't well known in the US but is great and its lead singer Adrian Sutherland is from Attawapiskat. This video shows some of the beauty of the area. My other favorites are Northern Man and their cover of Heart of Gold.

Saw my book in the wild at Princeton public library! It looks thin next to the other books (it's paperback, and under 200 pages) but that means it's a quick read! #quickreads #lgbtqbooks #griefbooks #librariesrock

It feels small to post this now, but the Amazon links for Ring were fixed so the kindle version is back with the paperback and audio. The paperback is also available elsewhere, but right now the ebook and audiobook are only available on Amazon/Kindle/Audible. I don't have control over this.

I'm always surprised (and grateful) when I find Ring reviewed on blogs. It's also interesting how bloggers and reviewers gender the main character. I've seen every mainstream pronoun used.
