You can’t say criminals don’t deserve due process when due process is the thing that decides if they're criminals. Otherwise you're just kidnapping people you don't like.

Why is Al Green not the US president?
If your representative is not matching your energy, they are not representing you. Drive them out and replace them. #3E #SOTU
EXCLUSIVE: I recently spoke with Rep. Al Green who was just escorted from Donald Trump’s speech. We’ll have a chance to ask him more questions this evening.

Here’s what he told me:

Cruelty and chaos are designed to rile us up and burn us out.

We must keep our calm without betraying our hearts.

Plant our feet without losing our heads.

Take a breath without looking away.

Quick reminder that if you see a headline from a source you’ve never heard of that isn’t being reported by anyone else, you really should do some due diligence before spreading it around as fact. There’s enough misinformation floating around already; no need to add more.

Hey #BookSky, here’s what I read in January. (Heavy on #TournamentOfBooks selections.)

The Wedding People was my favorite.

Orbital felt like meditation.

World of Wonders was full of delightful metaphors.

A few days after the election, I decided my family needed a puppy.

Now, as I wake up and read the news, this is at my feet.

Have to take a long walk later.

Tug on a rope and release aggression.

I’m not saying everyone should go get a puppy, but I am not NOT saying that, either.

BREAKING: Philadelphia workers have won the first Whole Foods union under Amazon with UFCW.

Since Amazon bought the chain, workers have lost benefits and felt the squeeze.

Now they're fighting back against the multi-trillion dollar giant and hoping this win will be the first of many.

Reminder for anyone who sees Trump as a savior: He lobbied to have tiktok banned in the first place, and now he’s positioning himself as the hero by unbanning it. It’s theatrics.

The rapid and consistent decrease in basic functionality in the world around us has been one of the strangest parts of living in “the future.”

It’s as if a commitment to make everything a little bit worse every day actually makes them a lot worse pretty quickly.

Hey, #BookSky. A thread of lines from books I read in 2024 that really stuck with me. What are yours?

So much of my academic training (and what was modeled there) was basically “find a quote you can argue against” as a way to “critically engage.”

Is academia the origin of this impulse? Or just a symptom of it?
I think that the tweet genre of “this person (who might be a bot) had a bizarre opinion that made me think less of humanity and so the right thing by to do is screenshot it and show it to the largest number of people” is silly.

Amen to this whole thread.

And if you hear anyone complaining about this delaying the next Wingspan expansion, tell them they now owe a $50 donation to their local hospice organization for being an asshole. Findpan doesn't have a thing to do with the delay but my dad's cancer sure as hell does.
The Finspan announcement dropped today (by the way, it looks GORGEOUS!!). I'm really excited for the whole Finspan team!

Being a year removed from the Wyrmspan release, I'm reminded of the rollercoaster of emotions I experienced then #boardgames 🧵

I run #secularhomeschool online book clubs. You Call This Democracy? is smart and action-focused.

Many of the kids I know feel scared and frustrated with politics. Knowledge and action combat that.

I've decided to offer the self-paced materials free: daylalearning.teachable.com/p/tween-book...

I will also add that if you only tried Storygraph when it first came out, please take another look! The features are so much better than they were before!

It's truly a Goodreads replacement for me, and I was a HEAVY Goodreads user.
people who use goodreads: jeff bezos owns goodreads and if you want a better alternative there is a black woman owned company called storygraph that you can use to replace it. you can transfer all of your data from goodreads to storygraph and have your mind be free of trumpie jeff bezos! win win. 💙
