The goal of all this was to give children the chance to experience something like Famicom Rocky, a manga published in CoroCoro Comic, a partner of the event. The design is indeed very similar.
The 2nd pic presents the design before the event, and explicitly refers to the manga's giant controller.

Images of a giant FC controller, made for the 1985 Hudson Caravan. Built in a hurry and at low cost, only the participants from Fukuoka and its surrounding areas were able to try it out for less than a week before it broke down.

Thank you Jonny. I have extract what Ono Hiroshi said about that footage in Zekû's book, and MT it in English (to work faster). Then corrected the translation a bit to be closer to the Japanese meaning. But keep in mind that English is not my native language ;)

Photo taken from a 1989 book: Miyamoto at work, with a copy of the second volume of the Japanese edition of Talisman (Stephen King + Peter Straub) in front of him. A novel in which the hero travels through a parallel world connected to our own - somewhat like in Zelda 3.

The layout of the Sega Super Circuit remains unchanged. The only differences are part of the diorama and the fact that the six cockpits are now at floor level. Initially free, the three-minute experience later became paid (500 yen).

It is notably mentioned that a second venue hosted the Sega Super Circuit starting on August 11.
This was the Nagahamarakuichi shopping center, operated by Seiyu. Sega directly managed the operation of its setup there.

The official name of the device was "Train Driving Test".
But, during the 1970 Expo, the term "game" was also used, and kids from elementary school (but not younger) could enjoyed it as well. If you look at the poster on the door in the picture below, the term "game" is used.
