Woke: The African-American English synonym for the General American English word awake, has since the 1930s or earlier been used to refer to awareness of social and political issues affecting African Americans, often in the construction "stay woke".

In the process of learning lessons from our losses—we must be careful not to overcorrect.

Howard University to gain R-1 designation - even after surpassing the criteria in previous years.

"the [R1] designation has eluded HBCUs, many of which remain hampered by chronic underfunding and other challenges."

Howard expects to gain R-1, with other HBCUs soon to follow
Howard University would be the only historically Black institution to earn the Carnegie Foundation’s coveted classification, but certainly not the last.

Random reminder: I've been here since May of last year. It's gratifying to see how many have joined this platform since.

Here's to hoping we can continue to use this platform to build worker power and help create an economy where gains are widely shared in 2025 and beyond.
Random reminder: You don't grow the economy through trickle down economics. You grow the economy by investing in workers: their education, health care, child care, transportation, and job training.
