For your viewing pleasure: a small clip of the first episode of Noggin the Nog. Ran on the BBC from 1959-1965, and again in 1982. The series was never broadcasted in Canada, but several books found their way to our libraries and bookstores. Enjoy! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jisq...

Fascinating statistic! I knew that Onslow had a good career in the IL, but didn't know much about his MLB career. As it happens, his HR total was higher than that of his brother, Jack, who later briefly managed the White Sox.
41000 days ago (August 22, 1912), 19-year-old Tigers rookie Eddie Onslow hits a grand slam off of Long Tom Hughes in the first inning of a 9-6 win over Washington. It’s the only MLB home run Onslow ever hits.

Great balls o' fire! Snuffy Smith first appeared in "Barney Google" 90 years ago, on November 17, 1934. (Snuffy went on to dominate the strip for decades as Barney largely disappeared, returning periodically only in recent years.) Snuffy’s debut:

Very interesting! I knew of the link between Fountain and Billy the Kid, but little else.
This guy's life would make an interesting movie. Represented Billy the Kid once (before he escaped from Mesilla). He knew the Hermit living in a cave at the base of the Organ Mountains & found his body (unsolved murder). Then, he "vanished" with his son (also unsolved). #NewMexico #history #OldWest
