Long story short, on what was my official final day being on the diocesan payroll, I accepted the offer for my new gig. Hence, the “Ironic Divine Intervention.” Thank you to those at BTPM who brought me back.

The morning after my layoff, I got a message from the CEO at Buffalo Toronto Public Media, where I previously worked, expressing support and offering to provide a reference for job leads. I took the chance and texted back, “If I could be so bold… have you filled your managing editor position yet?”

This year is one in which I have to day "Ironic Divine Intervention" occurred.

I was one of the roughly 20 percent of the workforce laid off by the Diocese of Buffalo in early August. I had a daughter at university, another entering her senior year of high school… the timing couldn’t be worse...
