That said Varley was a WWI artist who lived to become a Cold War artist of a sort (he toured the Soviet Union in the fifties) so your original post is understandable!

New Montreal towers look much less busy than what we get in Vancouver - more Miesian clean lines, less breaking up the massing blah blah. Shame the architects don't seem to go west much.

I was going to say, 'no they are a classic Canadian snow boot firm' - but on checking I find they went bust and were bought up by Americans. Classic Canada in a way.

Surely not. But like the sub purchases such talk seems more about laying down new vibes (don't mess with us) than really building meaningful defence capacities.
