In 2021, McConnell successfully filibustered a Democratic CR ahead of a government shutdown and forced them to accept a clean one instead. What happened this week - a total cave on a totally partisan long-term funding bill - hasn’t happened in the 20 years I’ve covered Congress.

My first boss in my political career, arguably the greatest post President ever. His legacy is a lesson in humility and public service.
Jimmy Carter has died. A remarkable man who has been on our minds a lot lately, for many reasons. What an example he set for everyone who has had to ask themselves, “Now what?”
