Pressure to cut rates matters not unless the gov’t only borrows on the very short end.
President Trump's focus on a Fed Chair who will slash rates is misguided even on his own terms:

1 The Fed Chair is 1 of 12 votes, a political hack Chair won't get majority

2 Even if FFR slashed the rates people care about, like mortgage, could go up w/ higher expected inflation

If I’m Tim Cook I hold a press conference and just say iPhones are 25% more expensive now and you can blame Trump. Switching costs are higher than 25% so better value for Apple to direct anger at Trump because Trumps folds when the pressure rises.

This administration has a lot to be proud of… Breathtaking corruption, total disregard for rule of law, world class incompetence, and grade school level negotiating skills. #econsky

Good morning. A reminder that historically when the US has wanted to punish other countries, it imposed sanctions on them, cutting their people off from global trade, hoping to create enough economic havoc that they rein in their leaders.

Trump has imposed economic sanctions on the American people.

Breathtaking corruption
Facing the highest tariffs of any country Vietnamese officials approved a Musk Starlink deal with startling speed, & expedited approval of a planned US$1.5 billion Trump Organization resort/golf course project in Hưng Yên Province.

So much for tariffs benefiting everyday Americans. #grift

If globalism is reversing why would the US consumer continue its role in the global economy as major consumer? In that world there is no reason for CDA, EU, CHINA to negotiate. Just reorient your economy such that you don’t need them anymore. Painful in the short term but necessary in the long term.
