The election for university president is coming up and so we have some campaigning on campus these days, but what I find interesting here is the amount of English on these posters, adding a bit more of something to the campus #LinguisticLandscape . . . .

'Bonjour' in the ice cream shop #LinguisticLandscape of Seoul, courtesy of Baskin Robbins, with some interesting French background art, all related to this special Golden Praline Butter ice cream. I wonder how widely known 'Bonjour' is in Korea? Pretty widely known, I'd guess.

Interesting to see a note about classes being available in English but written in Korean here. I often see notices about services available in English written in English and I'm a bit curious about these practices more generally. Also, people versus a cat or dog in the figures is interesting!

Pilates maketh man

I don't think I've ever seen 'maketh' in the #LinguisticLandscape of Korea until now, so something new here!
And . . . .

7. Opps, skipped 6 on that last skeet. Anyway, talk on the AI transformation on campus, more from the AI #LinguisticLandscape . . . .

I have a deep fondness for paper-based language learning notebooks, and wonder a bit what has been written in the last few years about the feelings that come from studying with this type of material . . . .
Always been quite satisfying to create and go over material like this, for me.

German and Korean, a relatively unusual combination in Korea, on a poster seen on a university campus in Seoul, part of the campus #LinguisticLandscape!

An interesting intersection of baked goods and geopolitics in the convenience store #LinguisticLandscape here!

Poster for a talk by Lucien Brown on Multimodal Politeness in Korean and Beyond: Voice, Gesture, Embodiment

Nice to see this talk coming to campus!

I am not exactly sure what is written here but I love the style, and the neat contribution to the English #LinguisticLandscape!

HOT makes an appearance in the bakery #LinguisticLandscape! Only in English! With flames!
Also, bagels are a huge trend in Korea right now.

Interesting to see remnants of better times scattered about campus, especially when another president is back in Korea.

It's ok if you don't say 'thank you' [to AI]

A poster about the environmental cost of AI usage, and yeah, a lot going on here in the AI #LinguisticLandscape! Wow, yeah, like a lot. Poster seen on a university campus in Seoul.

Once more marveling at an actual 'on food' #LinguisticLandscape!

One of many 'GRAND OPEN' signs in the #LinguisticLandscape of Korea, with this phrase being quite common. I have seen a few 'GRAND OPENING' signs too, and so with AI often used for advice these days - including on signs - I wonder if we might see a AI directed change in language here over time

Deliciously Hype K-Dessert

A lot going on in the hype dessert packaging here, from the image of the smoking tiger to the cute English font! Just a whole lot worth thinking about here in the dessert #LinguisticLandscape!

California Dental Clinic
Nice reminder of a thread I did on Twitter about all the dental clinics in Seoul named after different places in the US, Canada, Australia, and UK, and then outside of Seoul in Korea, there are dental clinics named after Seoul neighborhoods.
Neat #LinguisticLandscape.
