Very interesting trend. I don't think it has much predictive value as to who will make the cup final (since using this method is too random), although cup winners do tend to perform better than cup runners-up in their last 5 games vs top competition.

What is the true value of a goal? on the scoresheet it's 1 (obviously), but statistically, it heavily depends on game clock, and goal differential. This is my first project completely using Python, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

the new salary cap increase is excellent news for the habs. Core pieces like slaf, suzuki, caufield, and guhle are locked up long term (on even more-so now team-friendly deals), and bad contracts like dvorak + retained salary will come of the books after the season.

I know Adam Boqvist is a bit of a defensive liability, although I think he could be a very useful addition to the #Habs blueline (and a gamble worth taking) due to the Guhle injury.
