Thanks for the heads-up. Due to low tolerance, I can only do caffeine every other weekend, and I really look forward to it. I do Starbucks for the loyalty program and the occasional freebie it brings.

But I don't cross picket lines. This weekend, it's the place across the street for my beloved tea.

I thought the piece was convincing, and it made me feel a bit better about this development. You said they fumbled at the end, though. What do you think they should've done instead, and what gives you hope that they're improving on that front?

I noticed that today, in particular, at the event where that guy fainted. He really does look like hell.

I have such a hard time getting my head around that number. As jaded as I can be, I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't vote.

And yet...

I'm not sure which bugs me more—when I know who it is, or when it's Anonymous Kraken.

I'm afraid to ask what they do if you hit 'em with a Cookie O'Puss.

I hear he also skimps on prunes in his Hamantaschen.

If it has a crust, acquit you must.

Maybe? I can’t remember who my wife is.

One year, I only remembered when my mom called. I told her my wife wouldn't remember, either.

Sure enough, she walked in, and I said, "Don't you have something you want to say to me?"

She didn't.

"You forgot?" I poured it on.

"Oh, please. Who reminded you?"

That's pretty much how it goes.

(Best read in a Ringo Star/"Helter Skelter"/"I got blisters on my fingers!" voice.)

I would love to think you're wrong. I really would.

Sadly, though, you're probably right. And I think that could be the last chance we get to put the country back on course—in my lifetime, anyway. But I'm kinda old.

Phillies fan here.

I was at a wedding reception and would sneak off to an adjacent bar to check the score. I thought I hid my disappointment so well that I wouldn't be a downer at the celebration.

Until afterward, when my wife said everyone kept asking her if I was OK.

But I'm over it.

Honest.

Now I'm reconsidering having a sled at my Ethan Frome party.

Gearing up for it. I'm just getting past a perfect storm of personal stuff, and my head's finally coming around to where it needs to be.

Just to mix some metaphors for ya.

I'm here and there, mostly lurking.

I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel.

I started on a friend's RadioShack/Tandy Pong console. Most of its games were variations on volleying a square "ball" between two rectangular "paddles."

His family didn't have a ton of money. Mine had less than his.

And Super Metroid on the SNES remains one of my favorite gaming experiences.
