EMBRACE THE FUTURE is a fictional advertising campaign that celebrates renouncing consumption as a hedonistic, sensual and fulfilling lifestyle.
The book is aimed at people in the Global North whose consumption-oriented lifestyles are mainly responsible for the climate crisis.

Today is the international day of the bee. Remember that we depend on them, they do not depend on us. Hopefully my dystopian vision of robotic bees will never have to become true.

My painting INSECTA, which is an ironic "Future Retro Ad".
You can experience it in Augmented Reality: get the Artivive App and scan the image.

The Preliminary drawing for this painting is part of the collection of the Albertina museum in Vienna:

HAPPY May 1st.
What will the future of work look like?
May 1, 2025 at 11:15 AM
In my art project CAN THIS BE TOMORROW?, I created a series of fictional comic book covers in the style of the American Golden Age comics. Inspired by fantasists
like Aldous Huxley, George Orwell or Phillip K. Dick, the artworks illustrate a bygone vision of
current events.

My art project EMBRACE THE FUTURE propagates a system change that aims for a circular economy. Economic growth, emissions and resource consumption have not yet been decoupled from each other. And the window of time we have left to avoid irreversible tipping points is getting smaller and smaller.

"Democracy can hardly be expected to flourish in societies where political and economic power is being progressively concentrated and centralized."
Aldous Huxley, 1958

Sad but true: at the moment we are heading towards a future which we know from science fiction CYBERPUNK scenarios created by Phillip K. Dick and co. This means: High tech - low life. A handful billionaires rule over the empoverished crowd.
For Peter Thiel and friends this dystopia is an utopia.

CAN YOU DO WITHOUT IT?

This is a limited edition screen print from my art project EMBRACE THE FUTURE.

It fits perfectly to today's economic blackout.
And: LESS SHOPPING MEANS LESS EMISSIONS!

I reject the use of AI systems that generate "art". On the one hand, because they disregard the rights of the authors of the works with which they were trained. On the other hand, I don't want the depth and complexity of my creative working process to be manipulated by the use of AI applications.

We stand at the dawn of a new global order. A multipolar international system is emerging, and a new global arms race is on the horizon. However, for the financing of many of the great achievements of civilization, it is necessary to keep military expenditure as low as possible. Call it a dilemma.

I made this picture in 2020 for my dystopian art project PICTURES OF TOMORROW.

Here I'm combining it with an excerpt from Aldous Huxley's BRAVE NEW WORLD REVISITED (1958).
We must not forget that the current attack on democratic institutions all over the world did not come out of nowhere.

We are just beginning to understand the impact of the attention economy on social cohesion and our democracy, while technological progress is opening up new dimensions in a largely unregulated way. Effective computing, in the hands of profit-oriented corporations could mean the end of civil society.
February 6, 2025 at 1:32 PM
Formulating concepts and creating initial sketches for a new art project are an important part of my creative work. It is the time when free experimentation in all directions is possible and even bad ideas have their place, before I discard them.
AI plays no part in it. I prefer my own bad ideas.

In times of rapid technological disruption and ecological threats, we are faced with the question:

What does it mean to be human? Where do we want to go?

The photo shows my exhibition in 2021 at the Karin Sachs Gallery in Munich.

This year has started badly. The AI arms race is in full swing - and not enough attention is being paid to its immense energy consumption. Then Trump’s Paris climate agreement withdrawal. The Doomsday Clock ticks closer to global catastrophe. We must stay positive and keep going. EMBRACE THE FUTURE.
January 29, 2025 at 2:36 PM
Future Shock was published in 1970. The book deals with the rapid changes in modern society that we are struggling to cope with. Profit-oriented corporations must not be the ones to decide on the implementation of new technologies that cause far-reaching social, ecological and economic disruptions.

If more and more cognitive tasks such as formulating and translating texts, creating graphics or composing music are taken over by AIs, this raises the question not only of the future of work, but also of the future of the intellectual development of human beings. Who makes an effort voluntarily?
January 26, 2025 at 9:04 PM
What will happen to our democracy at a time when algorithms of largely unregulated companies such as X, Meta and Google, are getting to know us better and better? Who will pay for the damage to society? Governments are handing over more and more responsibilities to undemocratic private companies.
