The day after the City of Winnipeg proposed paint and plastic post bike lanes on Wellington Crescent, a driver crashed into Rob Jenner’s ghost bike.

Poetic? Scary? Infuriating?

Another successful Bike Jam in the books. A smaller one, maybe only 400 people? #BikeJamWpg #BikeWpg

Enroute to the final stop of the #BikeJamWpg night.

(I’m not great at taking video backwards on my cargo bike, turns out)

Second stop of the night for #BikeJamWpg at Omand’s Creek

Volunteer marshals rolling out for #BikeJamWpg. DJ + FM transmitter on the cargo trike. Several other cargo trikes with audio setups. Join us!

680 people at tonight’s #BikeJamWpg ride, by my count. First stop with Big Heist Brass Band

Little Miss A is stuffing her face with cheese and crackers before we bike down to the river for a toboggan walk.

Drivers gave me even more passing room the way that I strapped the toboggan to the cargo bike. 😛

Another stellar daycare dropoff by #CargoBike. Winter cycling is a ton of fun. Slower than normal, but better than the alternative for my mental and physical health.

I’ve got to get better reflective touchscreen gloves, but here’s @lastghostbike.bsky.social cycling with us along the frozen river in Winnipeg. So good to have him here #BikeWpg

The Winnipeg winter river trail is my favourite proof that people are excited for accessible outdoor places that are safe from drivers. So many people walking, skiing, skating and cycling. #BikeWpg

We found a few skating rinks cleared along the river, including an incredible treed curling rink with frozen milk jugs as 🥌 #BikeWpg

We met up with @lastghostbike.bsky.social while he’s in Winnipeg on his x-country bike ride!

A winter bike ride on the Assiniboine River might be my favourite group ride yet. 😍

I lived in Vancouver for 8 years. Pretty quickly, I realized I needed to be comfortable getting wet in the rain, because it was going to rain regardless. I didn’t need to feel miserable for months.

It’s like that in Winnipeg. You can embrace the cold or shy away from it.

This is a lovely way to quickly get downtown. 10 minutes later, I’m at my favourite diner for breakfast.

In some cases, we understand that we’re a winter city.

Yes! I didn’t wanna buy a second set of these and figure out how to stud them. So, I had SlipNot make a pair for me. Give them your dimensions, wait a few weeks, then install in 5 minutes.

Even in the spots with the fresh snow, the tire chains on the cargo bike made this a delightful ride to daycare.

A few minutes of exercise in the fresh air and the rising (cloudy) sun is just a perfect way to start the day

To the kids at daycare who see us riding up for pickup/dropoff, please continue to beg “That’s so cool, can we ride our bikes tomorrow?” I’m sure your parents love us.

My toddler continues to have a blast on the cargo bike 🧡

I love many things about having married into a Haitian family, but their Haitian Independence Day feast is high in that list.

The world’s first independent Black republic achieved through a slave revolt.

🇭🇹 L’union fait la force indeed. Happy New Year to you all. We’re stronger together.

My brain hurt trying figure out where all these beers were from.

I love a Leffe Blonde, but I know it’s not from… Vancouver.

My favourite part of @wpgpro.bsky.social (and indie wrestling generally) is just how close you are to the action.

A monthly soap opera where everyone does their own stunts all in a single take? Straight into my veins

Alright, let’s go. 53 people registered to speak in favour of keeping people safe. It’s going to be a looong day, but I’m so excited and grateful for everyone taking time out of their day to speak.

A quick breakfast stop on the way to go speak at City Hall about keeping people safe

@americanfietser.com wants more photos of bikes doing errands. I’m happy to oblige.
December 4, 2024 at 4:14 PM
Last Friday, I was one of 28 people who spoke at City Hall in favour of taking a long-loved "bike route" in Winnipeg and adding protected cycling infrastructure and dropping the speed limit to 30 km/h.

Tomorrow, we'll speak at the Executive Policy Committee. And be "we" I mean 53 OF US!

I'm in the same boat, but with orange. I've added some "go fast" orange streamers and pipe cleaners on the back of the toddler seat, if your brother is looking for ideas.
