Is also the dynamic that is most likely to make them consider true rupture with the system. The increasing weakness of their position is going to make them consider ever more radical options for preservation.

“Housing prices are cheap where there is no housing pressure, therefore, there is no housing pressure” Will Stancil says sagely.

I’m not arguing that they are. I agree it’s a huge problem, which is why I don’t think we should make bullshit demands when no wrong has actually been committed.
November 14, 2025 at 5:24 PM
Forcing people to apologize for things that aren’t actually morally wrong is a huge reason why we’ve fallen so far with shame and decency. Using those tools responsibly is crucial for them being at all effective when they’re actually needed

It’s indecent to follow onlyfans models on IG?

Your argument here is that consumer goods across a wide swath of categories have not, in fact, decreased in recent decades? You really genuinely don’t think there has been a secular decline in the quality and durability of the average product?

Feels like we could come up with a few other options besides austerity or bailing out Sam Altman in that situation
November 6, 2025 at 2:13 AM
That’s not what the report says
October 28, 2025 at 2:30 PM
This is absolutely true but there is the other side of the ledger where there isn’t the same lower bound constraint. You can’t not talk about something harder but you can be more proactive at shifting the discourse, which the wider left continues to struggle with

There’s also a real and urgent feeling that Dems can no longer ice people out with unpolished or inconvenient views/ways of being. And it’s an urgent enough feeling that a Nazi skull may not be inconvenient enough
October 24, 2025 at 1:28 AM
Yeah, the air quotes weren’t for the Nazi tattoo, hence my suggestion they should move on.
October 24, 2025 at 1:18 AM
Dems should move on here but they will need to make space for people who say and do the “wrong” thing more often than they currently do.
October 24, 2025 at 1:07 AM
Obviously, this particular case seems pretty cut and dry. I think some of the unwillingness to move on tho is that a guy like Platner is likely the best route to win and not in spite of having these types of skeleton, but in a real way, because of them.

I honestly can’t tell how much is purposeful gaming of the system and how much is just full on derangement lol
October 17, 2025 at 2:35 PM
Will is the perfect encapsulation of social media’s perverse incentives, here or anywhere. Either because he’s unwell or because he’s gaming the system, he says shit like this and then rides a wave of victimhood and bullshit for days or weeks. It’s
destructive, generally and also personally
October 16, 2025 at 4:05 PM
You say a lot of dumb shit on here but this is really an all-timer. Just incredibly stupid stuff lol

The average person understood the pandemic as a society-wide disruption and made accommodations for it across their lives as it unfolded. Inflation only became a distinct issue when it remained elevated well past the acute phase of c19. Not sure why you’re so obtuse about this.

Does have a sort of skeleton key kind of feel to it
October 9, 2025 at 11:38 PM
Sometimes it really is about the fundamentals and the need for an immediate win to encourage more general dissatisfaction at a critical time.
October 7, 2025 at 3:15 AM
I can understand the feeling of certainty but given the history here, I do think it’s worth considering that their strat is right this time. Making them fight on their weakest ground isn’t the worse play in the world.
October 7, 2025 at 3:15 AM
Ahhh yes, the strategic genius of “no no, this is who we’ve always been, silly!” Really masterful politics, my man
October 5, 2025 at 7:08 PM
Ezra’s point was not that abortion isn’t a big tent issue. The point Ezra made was that Dems used to occupy a wider swath of cultural attitudes than they currently do, which narrows our path to power, particularly in the senate given the makeup of the states.

a black pastor in Mississippi who is much more conservative on gay rights than I would prefer.
September 30, 2025 at 9:08 PM
To answer your first question, to win enough senate seats for a decent majority, we will need to win in very red states. That will unquestionably require stealing republican votes. Regarding the second ?, where to draw the line is fraught but I don’t think it would be crazy to run, let’s say, a
