Twitter refugee, retired health policy guy. My 15 minutes of fame included Paul Krugman linking to my blog post in a column and many media appearances in Maine during the rollout of the ACA.

Born in NY, happily living in Maine for the past 15 years.
I'm not here much, but stopping by this morning with a question for my wife's organization (they work with asylum seekers). I am trying to find out when the subsidy eligibility changes for asylum seekers take effect. @larrylevitt.bsky.social @charlesgaba.com @julierovner.bsky.social Thanks!

Please do yourself a favor and listen to Sen. Hassan emotionally comment and blast RFKJr on his stance on vaccine and autism and spreading lies. This is emotional, brilliant. As father who has lived this as well this blew me away. Thank you Senator.

I keep getting texts and messages asking me why most Democrats have rolled over and played dead.

I’m as baffled as everyone else.

They’re not going to gain anything by being quiet or becoming MAGA Lite.

All they’re doing is making sure they share the blame when this all goes south.

Given the toxic swirl of narcissism, nihilism, and moral apathy that has enveloped the country, I’ve never been more pessimistic about its future.

And it’s not even about FFOTUS. He could choke on a cheeseburger tomorrow—a fate no cheeseburger would deserve—and I’d feel the same way.

these people are so easy to turn into whiny babies. thats why we get so mad at democrats for being scared to challenge them. they fold like cheap tables at the slightest push back.
the way a couple words from a bishop has triggered the whole right *should* be a message to democrats to be more combative but im skeptical theyll get the memo

Growing up Jewish, I was taught that despite obstacles, I was more fortunate than many, and it was my responsibility to help where I could.

Mark has forgotten that lesson, so allow me to echo @brianbeutler.bsky.social:

Yes, please.

The FDA ban of red 3 has nothing to do with actual health risks & everything to do with public outrage & lobbyist money.

Adverse effects in rats occurred when rats ate 4% of their body weight for months.

That’s equal to a person weighing 150 lbs eating 102 GRAMS of red 3 EVERY DAY, for months.

republicans immediately blamed the fire on democratic environmental policy and leadership. democrats have not said anything about the fire's connection to years of gop climate denialism. this is kind of a fundamental difference to how both sides approach politics.
