Swifts spend almost their entire lives in the air, only touching down to nest. ☀️
They need high-up, deep boxes with plenty of space to swoop straight in!
And once they’ve found a home, they’re loyal to it... meaning you could see them return year after year.

53 years ago today, in 1971, 6-year-old Simone Langenhoff was hit by a driver and killed while cycling to school in the Netherlands. This, was the spark for the Stop de Kindermoord grassroots campaign that fought back against car-centric cities and eventually revolutionised Dutch streets.

What we think of as a healthy, thriving tree may differ from reality. This Osage-orange looks like it's in decline. But is it? It is doing two things of importance to itself: growing well and reproducing. Old trees, ornamental and forest trees, should be left alone if they don't pose a threat. 🌏🧪

I'm delighted to say the paperback edition of 'An Irish Atlantic Rainforest' will be released on the 15th of February.
Due out last May, the hardback was continuing to sell so strongly that the date was delayed by 9 months.
