Some random snapshots from the #SMART championship finale at North Wilkesboro a few weeks back (more on the ‘gram).
Melissa Fifeld’s black and pink #01 tour-type modified rolls down the front straightaway early in the race. A wide shot of turns 1 and 2 at North Wilkesboro during a late race red flag for oil cleanup. There is so much speedy-dry on the track that they could have brought out some dirt cars for a 30 lap feature. The duality of man (2025, colorized). Luke Baldwin and his pale yellow #7 modified ride the elevator up to victory lane in the background, while in the foreground Ryan Newman and Paulie Hartwig III stand by their cars amidst the agony of defeat, having narrowly lost the championship to Baldwin.

Some highlights from the Pro Late Model portion of this year’s #CARSTour championship at North Wilkesboro. Quite the battle between Keelan Harvick and Luke Baldwin! Shame Kevin’s engine let go so early in the race.

I’m dumping some North Wilkesboro #CARSTour photos over on the ‘Gram, but here’s some fanzone favorites for the skyline!
A red and white #16 NASCAR Goody’s Dash Series car parked in the fan zone at North Wilkesboro Speedway before the CARS Tour championship races a couple weeks back. I had never seen one in person before! A moonshine still autographed by numerous racing legends, sitting on the hood of a black 1940’s (I think) coupe. Of particular interest is the signature of Brownie King, a fellow Johnson City, Tennessee native. A red and gold #22 Bobby Allison Dodge, complete with long pointed nose and giant wing! A closeup of the rear window of a 2002 Dave Marcis Chevy Monte Carlo that raced at Daytona. The window caught my eye because of its unusually warped shape.

Fun little anecdote from #IMSA Mustang Challenge qualifying: I can tell why Robert Noaker is dominating this series just by his approach to turn one. He’s hugging the wall so tightly before arcing in that you can’t even see the number 13 on his door! Nobody else was running that high all day.

Sightseeing today (and supporting the National Parks Service!)

Pros and cons of todays Hotlap track:

Pro: It looks like Trenton! Or Monterrey’s “frijole” configuration to use a modern example.

Con: That car-width gap to the inside of start-finish is DIABOLICAL. Hug the bottom a touch too long and you start lap two. 😅
A screenshot of todays Hotlap Daily course, shaped like a bean it is reminiscent of both Trenton and Monterrey in the real world. It is notable for having a narrow gap next to the start finish line that makes it easy to accidentally start a second lap.
