This is similar to my current method, although I tend to work only two or three chapters ahead with the bullet points.

Part of this is because it’s quite a time-consuming way to write. I have to do a LOT of work pulling that scrappy draft into something coherent.
But outlines scare me because back in the day I found they always ended up killing my enthusiasm.
